Geodetic Institute at Geospatial Week 2025 in Dubai
Ruiqi Liu excellently represented the Geoinformatics group of the Geodetic Institute at KIT at her first major international conference with her presentation "Towards Integrated Data Management and Analysis for Spatio-Temporal Digital Terrain Models." Nine of the 27 submitted papers were selected for Workshop W 16 "Data Management and Data Quality for Remote Sensing Scenarios" (https://gsw2025.ae/workshops/), moderated by Prof. Martin Breunig and Dr.-Ing. Paul Vincent Kuper. The workshop was jointly organized by the ISPRS Working Groups WG IV/4 "Data Management for Spatial Scenarios" and ICWG III/IVb "Remote Sensing Data Quality." The selected papers will be published in the ISPRS Annals (full papers) and the ISPRS Archives (abstracts).
The diverse program featured high-quality presentations on new methods and tools for managing spatio-temporal data and sophisticated applications such as database-based documentation of glacier trends, new spatial private-public partnerships in the United Arab Emirates, and the encryption of spatial models for storing sensitive spatial data in the cloud (Best Paper Award). Furthermore, presentations on improving data quality for geodatabases, for example, through the integration of optical and SAR-based data acquisition using web-based approaches, were presented.
